Christmas in Flanders centers around the celebration of the birth of Jesus with family and friends. On Christmas Eve, the family decorates the Christmas tree and lights the candles in front of the manger while snacking on cookies, nuts, marzipan and nougat. Next it is time to go to Midnight Mass.
On Christmas Day, family and friends arrive for dinner. All help with the preparation. Children show off the presents received from Santa Claus on December 6th. Venison, game, chicken or turkey is served for the main entree. A Yule Log and small pastries with a strong coffee end the Feast of Christmas.
